The exact start date of grape cultivation on this estate remains elusive, but it's believed to have started around 1710, following the governorship of Willem Adriaan van der Stel, who was also the founder of Tulbagh. It was after his term as governor of the Cape Colony that the land, now home to Saronsberg Estate, was bestowed upon its first owners.

Celebrating 400+ prestigious wine awards since 2004

Great wines! Excellent presentation by Leonie of Saronsberg, sharing the history and stories. The most beautiful setting - old oak trees, green lawns, large pond. Stunning artwork displayed in gardens and in gallery. Spotless!

Great service. Like the fact, you can view the art with the first of the wine tasters in your hand. Thought they would be snobby with all the awards their wines have won, but not at all. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it immensely.

The wine, art and views were all stunning, the wine tasting was informative, and the shiraz was excellent, the art was different and interesting, and rolling lawns and mountains made the perfect picture.
