Soma South Tyrol Merlot Cabernet DOC:
The warmest vineyards on the first slope of the Kurtatsch winery are combined in the Cuvee SOMA (ancient Greek word for body).
The vineyard plots on sandy-loamy soils are ideal for growing the noble Bourdeaux varieties due to the geographical location of the village in the south of South Tyrol. These were planted in Kurtatsch at the beginning of the 20th century.
In SOMA, Merlot sets the tone with its fruity richness, while Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon add spice, elegance and depth. The nose is dominated by aromas of cherries, blackberries and plums. Tannins present on the palate give the round body additional balance and form the basis for longer bottle aging.
