Having recently found appreciation for Rhone wines because of this wine, I am sad to say that it, apparently, is among the best Gigondas wines available. I googled it, and whenever it was in a tasting, it won. Which is understandable, because it is so damn good. But it also means that it's all down hill from here - but what a ride!
Last weekend i compared it to a Domaine La Soumade Gigondas, both 2010 vintage, and Amadieu won by a nose.
The Soumade has pepper, lots of it, and fruit. And its a fine wine.
But Amadieu has, to my taste, a more balanced blend of the pepper and the fruit.
It is, quite simply, the best Gigondas I have tasted yet, and I have tasted a lot since being introduced to it.
