People have always actively taken fate into their own hands. In 1893, the Andrian winegrowers took the first step, pooling their strengths to form the first winery cooperative in South Tyrol and thus the first in the former Hungarian-Austrian Danube Monarchy. 115 years later - in 2008 - they made another groundbreaking decision: an alliance with the respected Cantina Terlan on the opposite side of the valley and Etsch. The strengths of both wineries are now combined and yet clearly separated from each other. The Cantina Andrian and its great location potential have endured, as have the historical achievements of the Andrians, for example Lagrein, which was one of the first to be aged here in barriques. Based on the persistent quality criteria and a strong focus on the terroir ideas that had already proven themselves in Terlan, Cantina Andrian continued to develop in constant steps. Today she looks to the future with greater strength and can be proud of her own identity and quality. These have their origins in a unique limestone terroir, a completely different climate than in Terlan and grape varieties that ideally suit these two parameters. This makes Andrian palatable and clearly comprehensible.
