Delaire Graff Wine
The peculiarity of the
landscape, with which the
winery is blessed, already
flows directly into the
naming: "Directly from
heaven" or "as in paradise",
this is how the name of the
winery "Delaire Estate" could
be translated; the wonderful
panoramic view already
inspired the previous owners.
In 2003 Lawrence Graff
acquired the winery and
turned it into a little paradise,
an oasis of luxury, by adding
a fine spa hotel and a
restaurant with fantastic
cuisine to the domain's
portfolio: Nomen est omen!
Embedded in the majestic
Botmaskop massif and
blessed with a wide view of
the vineyards, the 20-hectare
Delaire-Graff winery is
located in the Stellenbosch
wine-growing region.
Probably the best-known
wine-growing region in South
Africa, it is located about 50
kilometers east of Cape Town,
on the so-called Western
Cape. In the coastal regions
of the Cape, viticulture
benefits from the cooling
effects of the Benguela
current. Its effect creates a
temperate maritime climate
in the wine-growing regions,
which is ideal for the
production of elegant and
delicately flavored wines.
The cool breeze from the
Atlantic creates a unique
microclimate on the mountain
slopes and thus ensures slow
and even ripening of the
grapes, which means that
clear white fruit aromas and
excellent freshness are
retained in the white wines.
The intense sunshine and the
nutrient-rich soils ensure that
the red wines have gentle
tannins and excellent
concentration. And this is also
the motto of the Delaire Graff
winery: Every glass should
reflect the natural aromas
and the sunny intensity. This
has been met with a very
positive response from wine
critics. Delaire-Graff wines,
for example, regularly get top
marks from the South African
wine pope JOHN PLATTER;
Delaire Graff is one of the top
10 wineries in South Africa. |
